I was always active growing up, playing any sport I could and remaining competitive in soccer and tennis. I turned to coaching after college, spending years coaching recreation league soccer for 9-10 year olds and assistant coaching at the high school level. After many years of typical gym attendance, trying different training methods I found kettle bell training. I eventually got a kettle bell coaching certification and began running my own classes. As I found myself plateau with kettle bells alone I tried CrossFit and was instantly hooked. The intensity and constant variation keeps it entertaining and provides fast/consistent improvement. The best part of coaching is seeing athletes achieve their goals and find a passion for being active!

I have always enjoyed going to the gym and staying fit. Many years of working out at regular gyms led me to try CrossFit. Learning how to lift heavier weight and perform new movements kept me coming back for more. Before long I couldn't get enough, always looking forward to my next workout. My favorite part of coaching is helping people improve their health and fitness.

I’ve spent my entire life as an athlete in some form, mostly as a hockey player, as well as soccer and grappling. After playing four years of Division II College Hockey, I found myself in an unfamiliar position for the first time in my life: I was no longer an athlete. I began to train on my own at local gyms, never returning to the form I once was, or seeing much result. In the summer of 2015 I found Crossfit, right here at Crossfit Rising Tide. In just my first week I found all of the aspects I had been missing in my life, inside the Box: a sense of team, community, competitiveness and adversity. I was hooked. Rising Tide is now my home, and my favorite thing about Coaching here is helping people find those same results they’re after, whatever form they might come in.
